Younger Spousal Inherited IRA RMDs

Wife has inherited IRA from deceased husband, both 30’s. My understanding is that NO RMDs are required for this spousal inherited IRA, until the deceased spouse’s would have been age 70 1/2. Correct?

That is correct. She should be sure to avoid the advice to roll his IRA to her own IRA. That should not be done before age 59.5, and perhaps not before age 70 if husband was younger and she wants to avoid RMDs for the longest possible period,

Thanks!  To clarify and confirm your recommendation to not roll the IRA to her own, that is because she can take out monies pre 59 1/2 without penalty this way (inherited IRA)?  Other reasons?

Yes, she can take penalty free distributions if the IRA remains in inherited status. No other reasons. After 59.5 the only benefit would be to delay RMDs if her husband was younger than she is. If he was not younger, she should roll it over at 59.5.
