trust deductions

Have client who put fathers money in trust. The accountant never told them to pay the fathers long term care monthly bills from the trust. Therefore the trust made 45k in 2015 and has to pay taxes of 9k since no deductions.

Was wondering if there is anyway (since they have not filed taxes yet0 that the trust can pay (reimburse) for last years expenses and have a deduction for 2015?

or…

Are they stuck paying the 9k in taxes this year?

Any other solutions you might have to help reduce the 9k in taxes (20%) to the trust?

Thank you,
Douglas
