401K RMD

If you become 70.5 and still work for the company do you have to do RMD from my company 401K



Usually not, unless you are a >5% owner. However, there are a few plans that require ALL employees to start RMDs at 70.5 which they are allowed to do. However, these are PLAN RMDs, not statutory RMDs. That allows these employees who are not >5% owners to roll over the plan RMD to an IRA, eliminating the tax bill.
