2020 inherited IRA

I am 66 and inherited a traditional IRA this year from my mother. I have ten years (until 2030) to clear out the account. When I withdraw funds from this account in the future, will it count towards my RMDs for my own traditional IRA’s , or are these withdrawals totally apart from the standard Annual RMD calculation.?

The inherited IRA is treated entirely separately from your own IRAs.  Distributions from this inherited IRA cannot be used to satisfy RMDs that you will eventually be required to be make from your own traditional IRAs.  You’ll likely want to take distributions from the inherited IRA before you begin taking distributions from your own IRAs so that the taxable income is spread across a number of years instead of spiking your marginal tax rate in a single year.

Thank you.
