rmd for death at age 70 but before 70 1/2

Hi,

a woman died in april of 2007 at age 70 but prior to turning 70 1/2. Her sole beneficiary was her 50 year old son.

is it true there is no rmb for 2007 and that he can stretch the IRA beginning in 2008 over his own lifetime?

Yes, that is correct. He must take his first RMD distribution no later than 12/31/08 based on the age attained on his birthday in 2008.
